If i were to try to explain where this title/concept came from I'm afraid I would use all of the "characters" that SC allows me for a song description…and i would hate for you to get Lost in those details…so I will focus more on what the song is about…This song is about how the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence…how we think we would SO love to be in someone else's shoes if only for a while. Sometimes, when we "borrow their shoes" we find that it's not all that it's cracked up to be and we quickly realize that staying in our own shoes is always the best way to be.

When Gary and I first spoke of this lyrical idea, he had a pretty clear idea of what kind of a "feeling" he wished for this tune to have…but we needed the words. So, given the title "Borrowed Shoes" he set me free and I started to write. Well, I am quite like a racehorse let out of the starting gates at this point and I just started writing…and writing some more…Gary had to rein me back in a few times as I was writing cool words but not exactly the words that we needed..nothing that "fit the vibe"…until i came up with what you will hear as the opening lines/verse…once those words came and Gary came back with the vocal melody it was ON! We then, finished writing the lyrics together.

Gary came up with such a funky cool bass swagger which is what gave us the vibe we needed for our vocals…we did the back and forth singing thing until we had all of our vocals in place…after that, Gary got out his guitar and did the biz on the rest of this piece. I love how he weaved in and around our vocals in places…I am such a fan of his guitar work and style!!

Once again, it was such a total joy and pleasure to create with Gary. I really love the vocal he is bringing to this piece..he found a different tone/vocal texture for each of his verses…each one unique and each one so totally cool. We have such a blast creating music…and, when we are done, it's not just a "new song" we have…it's a complete experience…with great memories and fun times…that, to me, is what it's all about…and, I'm so grateful that he continues to create such awesome pieces that we can sing on…cause it's much fun, oh yes indeed :)
