As Proverbs 15:1 wisely explains, “A gentle answer deflects anger, but harsh words make tempers flare.” Or Proverbs 12:18, “Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing.” Knowing that our words have the power to transform the lives and actions of others, how might we seek to speak more like Jesus - with love, mercy, and compassion - when facing difficult relational situations, rather than seeking to cut others down to size? What would it look like if we were to genuinely seek to make others’ lives better with our words… even others who have hurt us?
