in the corner of your eye
im a cigarette
burning in the dark of night
im the hero yet
im the one they vilify
lunar pirouette
working hard to turn the tides

im the man that everybody knows
yet without a face
and i go where everybody goes
and dont leave a trace
and in fact i once have saved your life
but im sad to say
in the way that things have got to be

im woven in the thread of life
something like a pin

to pick a single rose
