Come together by For Now published on 2024-08-02T15:06:00Z Volunteers from the Central Mosque of Brent, St Mary Magdalen Church, Willesden and BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir (Neasden Temple) come together in this sonic celebration of the wonderfully diverse community of Brent. As part of the Being Brent project Glenda Luke, visited all three places of worship to run sewing workshops for devotees. Her voice runs through the piece amidst the singing and chatter of the workshops, the calls to prayer throughout the day and the ebb and flow of the River Thames. Every place of worship has people such as Glenda who give their time to help support the running of such vital establishments; they are the lifeblood running through. Whether it's lovingly sewing altarpieces, cleaning and tidying or opening and closing the doors at the start and the end of the day, these seemingly small gestures seemed to us to represent so much more - a way of giving back paid in time, commitment and faith. We'd like to thank Glenda Luke, Nishta Parekh, Dr Amjid Riaz and Abdul Rauf for their time.
