The Agreement also proposed that Indonesia was willing to act as a UN administrator free of charge and made several promises about how Indonesia would protect & respect Papuan rights & wishes if the UN entrustd the territory to Indonesian administration. The Agreement prposed that the UN would surrender all control & influence if it appointed Indonesia as administrator, thereby the UN would under the agreement have NO control or influence of the Indonesian administration including the proposed 'act of free choice' would be totally administrated by Indonesia alone. A number of nations objected to the agreement but because the new Secretary General was a personal friend of Sukarno and had personally championed the proposal for several months, none of the UN members voted against it. 2022-07-20T18:20:13Z Comment by Andrew Johnson 137 No, everything said about the cold-war and the 1962 New York Agreement is incorrect, and is the standard cover story meant to prevent people looking at the legal issue or UN and other records. 2022-07-20T18:09:26Z
