Lullaby by Amber Kenny published on 2025-06-11T23:35:22Z Lullaby is a follow up to ‘Little Ones” from my debut EP ‘Out In The Open’. This song is about progression and how even though our kids are growing up, there’s more depth to their personalities as they reach milestones and we will still always want to to sing them a lullaby, When my babies were born, I would dream away the days and just look at them and think wow, you are precious. As I had so much to process and understand, that marked the real beginning of my songwriting journey. We see our kids as branches of ourselves then they slowly start to step into their own independence, which is both beautiful and frightening. No matter how old or where they are in life every mumma will always want to sing her babies a lullaby (even as they tower over us), This song really came from my maternal instincts, the greatest and most revealing job I'll ever have. “I love soulful music and wanted it to have a timeless vibe. The Nora Jones album Feels Like Home and Gillian Welch’s Times (The Revelator) are great inspirations to me. Syd Green and Ben Fink understood this influence and really set the tone so we had a lot of fun recording it.” This song is about creating memories and leaving a legacy for my family. Having my family as part of my musical journey is integral to this album. My kids will have this song forever.” Genre Country
