V Okovih
Skupina V OKOVIH je pričela delovati pred dvema desetletjima. Njena prva in prvotna člana, Karno Bozi - Bozo (kitara) in Dejan Novak - Dedo (bobni), sta jo ustanovila septembra 1989 v Mariboru. Junija 1990 je bend kot duet prvič udarno nastopil na ˝open air˝Trate 90´. V začetku leta 1991 se je dvojici pridružil Branko Kamenik - Ante (bas), po nekaj mesecih pa še Matjaž Tomažič - Tomo (vokal). Oktobra 1991 so se v novi postavi predstavili v mariborskem MKC-ju. Malo zatem so izdali prvo demo kaseto.
Poleti 1992 Karno Bozi zapusti bend. Po njegovem odhodu v bendu igrajo različni kitaristi takratne mariborske scene (Robi Klemenzberger - Roba, Mladen Buletinac - Bula, Milan Fras).
Leta 1993 se na festivalu Trate bendu pridruži takrat še neuveljavljen mlad kitarist Borna Šmid - Boca. V tej zasedbi bend koncertira tako doma kot v tujini. Aprila 1994 v klubu MKNŽ Ilirska Bistrica z Bojanom Babičem - Babom posnamejo 15 komadov. Bend tako v letu 1995 v samozaložbi Vebo izda svoj prvi CD album z naslovom ˝Hard sunshine core˝. Istega leta bend na mariborskem radiu študent (MARŠ) prejme Maršev gojzar kot najboljša skupina. V OKOVIH koncertira in sodeluje doma in tujino na različnih projektih in kompilacijskih ploščah vse do leta 1996, ko bend v tedanji zasedbi razpade. Leta 1997 se borna Šmid, Dejan Novak in Karno Bozi v vlogi basista združijo v trijo z imenom KREMIRANI ČASI, ki začne koncertirati in tudi posname demo. Trio deluje vse so 1998, ko se njegovi člani razidejo. Istega leta Borna Šmid in Matjaž Tomažič z basistom Silvom Zemljičem - Sissy Pope ( Muškat Hamburg) in Alenom Šmidom (Blutwurst) na bobnih ustanovijo bend MALO BO. Tako se zgodba, povezana s skupino V OKOVIH, nadaljuje vse do leta 2001, ko MALO BO preneha delovati.
Iz nostalgije in v želji po ponovnem delovanju benda V OKOVIH se leta 2009/10 ponovno formira skupina v sedanji zasedbi: Karlo Drolc (vokal), Borna Šmid (kitara), Behrang Azhdari (bas) in alen Šmid (bobni).
The beginnings of the band V OKOVIH reach as far as two decades back. Its first and original members Karno Bozi - Bozo (guitar) and Dejan Novak - Dedo (drums) founded the group in September 1989 in Maribor. In June 1990, still as a duo, the band made its first striking appearance at the “open air” Trate '90 event. In the beginning of 1991 the two founding members were joined by Branko Kamenik - Ante (bass), and a few months later by vocalist Matjaž Tomažič – Tomo. In October 1991 the newly formed band was presented at the Maribor youth center MKC. Soon after that they released their first demo tape.
In the summer of 1992 Karno Bozi decides to leave the band. Following his departure, the band tries out with a number of guitarists of the existing local scene (Robi Klemenzberger - Roba, Mladen Buletinac - Bula, Milan Fras).
Borna Šmid - Boca, at the time still an unrecognized young guitarist, joins the band at the 1993 Trate festival. This transformed cast takes on gigs both at home and abroad. In April 1994, at the MKNŽ club from Ilirska Bistrica, they record 15 songs with the help of Bojan Babič – Babo. Finally in 1995, the band releases their first, self-published CD (Vebo publishing house), entitled “Hard Sunshine Core”. In the same year they are awarded the Maršev gojzar award by the local student radio station MARŠ in the “best band” category. The group keeps on playing and working on various projects and compilation records both at home and abroad, up to 1996, when they fall apart yet again. In 1997 Borna Šmid, Dejan Novak and Karno Bozi on the bass decide to join forces in a trio called KREMIRANI ČASI (Cremated Times), which starts to do concerts and even records a demo. The trio goes on to play until 1998, when its members agree to part their separate ways. In the same year Borna Šmid and Matjaž Tomažič, together with Silvo Zemljič - Sissy Pope (bass; Muškat Hamburg) and Alen Šmid (drums; Blutwurst) form another band – MALO BO. And thus the story of the band V OKOVIH continues all the way to 2001, when MALO BO calls it quits.
Out of nostalgia and from a desire to once again revive the band V OKOVIH, in 2009/10 the group is reformed in the present cast of Karlo Drolc (vocals), Borna Šmid (guitar), Behrang Azhdari (bass) and Alen Šmid (drums).
