tokyogirlsstyle Tokyo Girls' Style Dance and Vocal Group TOKYO TOKYO GIRLS’ STYLE TOKYO GIRLS’ STYLE was formed January 1st, 2010. They are a dance and vocal group made up of Aya Konishi, Miyu Yamabe, Hitomi Arai, Yuri Nakae and Mei Shoji. They are the first girl group to be created by Avex in several years. They plan to gain more experience in order to achieve their goal of becoming a group that is active in Japan, across Asia and the world. Some members were still in elementary school when the group was formed. They began by performing live twice a month at regular intervals then continued to stay active with live performances. In May 2011, they held their first Japan tour and released their first album. In October, they held their first hall-class nationwide tour and immediately sold out the tickets for the concert in Nakano Sunplaza on December 24th. Not only did their live shows gain a great reputation, but their second album “Limited addiction”, released on March 2012, was nominated for the Record Shop Award. Their funk and disco sound with urban appeal is critically acclaimed. They held their 2nd Japan Tour in 6 cities nationwide starting on April 30th 2012. At the tour final in Hibiya Yaon (Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall) on May 20th, they announced their concert at the Nippon Budokan in front of 3000 fans. They held a successful Budokan concert on December 22nd and setting the record (at the time) for the youngest female group (average age 15) to hold a concert at the Budokan, Their 11th single “ROAD TO BUDOKAN 2012 ~Bad Flower~” hit #4 on the Oricon Weekly Chart and stayed in the Top 10 for 3 weeks in a row. Stepping up to a bigger venue class in April 2013, they started their 3rd Japan Tour at Zepps nationwide. Also, their first TV show began on BS Fuji. Their live show from the TV show was well received because of its unique production with illusions. On December 22nd 2013, they held a concert at the Budokan for the 2nd year in a row! Their confidence and improved performances compared to a year ago that showed the new Tokyo Girl’s Style. In 2014, their 5th year, they are going to hold the nationwide tour “Royal Mirrorball Discotheque”! They will dance two hours with club sound to a non-stop remix. The final day will be on June 15th at Hibiya Yaon (Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall) for the first time in 2 years! They will appear at KAWAII NIPPON EXPO, one of the biggest expos. They will display one of a kind music performances completely different from any other idol group with their youth (average age 15) and the concept of “We want to show people the joy of music through our singing and dancing!” The group has gained acclaim outside of their music careers. They will star in 2 movies in 2014 such as “Count Five To Dream Of You” (in theaters on 3/8) directed by Yuki Yamato and a serious horror movie “Gakkou no Kaidan – Noroi no Kotonoha” (in theaters nationwide on 5/23). Their activities outside of music have been drawing attention. They’ve released albums in Taiwan and Hong Kong and held live shows in Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Hong Kong. Moreover, their album hit the top 10 of the J-Pop chart in France. This year they expect to be very active overseas including the US. TOKYO GIRLS’ STYLE continues to aim for the world!
