Sunnylanzarote Robert Riocca Arrecife In November 2011, I had surgery to remove a troublesome and worrying skin tumour. With the advent of the new year (2012) I decided I was going to take up playing the guitar as I always have felt very limited by only singing songs to backing tracks. I felt the guitar would be a welcome addition to my entertainment value and possibly make me more sought after in the entertainment world. I started to play by ear (self taught) in Feb 2012 and by June 2012, I was playing live in Tahoyo restaurant in Arietta (Haria). I don't think there would be many people on this planet, who would take their guitar playing into a live environment so quickly, but it was a measure of how confident I was in the sound of the guitar and my arrangements of popular music. My playing was well received and the purpose of placing my recordings here, is to demonstrate how I am able to progress (hopefully). As yet, I have no desire to sing and play the guitar in a combined arrangement as I believe my guitar and I have 2 distinct voices and maybe (unlike the females of our species), I am just not able (yet) to multi task (lol) As yet, I have not wanted to play chorded guitar as I find my fingers fat and awkward on the fret board in playing chords. Equally, I do not like the prospect of becoming a strummer a sI like the individual notation and sound of picking single strings... So I have no idea how my guitar playing will (or will not) evolve. I only know that I am committed to trying to find "my sound" and "my signature" because as yet, I have not found it. If you find my playing boring or cumbersome, maybe you might acknowledge me solely by remembering, that I took up playing the guitar at the age of 53 and at the time of writing this, Jan 16th 2013, I am now staring at the decrepit old age of 55 in March!
