Jordan 'illikon' Robinson and Lucas 'Brukout' Allen met in 2008 while both attending Pacific Audio Visual Institute (PAVI) in Vancouver, BC. The two became friends after quickly realizing they had such similar taste in music and appreciation for Bass culture. They both were aspiring DJ’s and producers and instantly clicked whenever working together on music or jamming. After they both graduated, Illikon went up north to Terrace, BC to pursue his passion for djing in the electro fidget scene, while Brukout continued to focus on jungle and drum’n’bass.
A string of heart surgery’s kept Brukout from being able to do as many live DJ performances as he would’ve normally preferred, but instead that allowed him to focus more on his production techniques. In 2010 he dropped his first solo remix track of Jeff Daniels & Tonye Aganaba - “Everybody”. While Illikon was droppin electro bangers on Play records. In 2011, Lucas and Jordan reunited again and could immediately see the potential in combining their love for dubstep with Allen’s signature drum 'n' bass/jungle style mixed with Robinson’s bass driven, fidgety electro beats. They decided that this collaboration production duo would be known as, ‘Subdivide’.
Since joining forces the multi-genre Subdivide have combined their large record collections and rare finds. When listening to Subdivides music, you can be sure to hear influences from such genres as Dubstep, Glitch hop, drum’n’bass, Drumstep, jungle, Electro, Fidget and more. In 2012 they released several albums and projects with Capital boom records such as Kickshiftas Consequences remix, and the Extortion – EP with remixes from 1UPdubstep, and Bold Equation. Soon after they set forth on their first successful tour together for the extortion release’ which saw them playing gigs together throughout Canada’s beautiful west coast. Leaving a lasting impression on every city and town they played in for their wild live sets and massive energy behind the decks. Subdivide confidently moves the crowd in their own unique and embracing ways. Performing alongside many artists throughout the years.
2013 was a great start for Subdivide as they finished 4 original tracks in just the first 2 months. Including a D&B smasher ft. MC Messinian which would later be released on Ultragore records. When a tragic car accident happened on June 15th. killing Jordan Robinson (Illikon). Left with a very tough decision Brukout decided he would carry on with Subdivide. Pushing the sounds and styles they begun with even further. Illikon always said “We don't like to just make tracks, we like to make lasting songs", and in his name Subdivide will continue to do just that.
