SKROTES Freedom, desconstruction and transgression. The SKROTES got together in 2009 to do an instrumental readings of popular themes because of an invitation to compose the soundtrack of the documentary movie Ilha 70 (Vinil Filmes). The experience inspired the band towards their own compositions. However, they are far from being a conventional instrumental trio. No labels and no rules, the SKROTES transit through all the styles that create the musicality of its members: Chico Abreu (bass), Igor de Patta (keys/synth) and Guilherme Ledoux (drums). The band’s first record, a 2010 EP, brings a small taste of the bands creativity with three versions of standards that are ageless: O Estupro dos Cisnes (Rape of Swans), Yo No Creo En Milagros (I Believe in Miracles) and Lei de Gaga (Gaga’s Law), as well as their first composition Arco da Velha. Non-recommended shots of jazz, punk, rock, pop and brazilian rhythms mixed in a junkie almost unpretentious way. This fusion results in compositions loaded with symbolism, random influences and sensations. A lisergic stroll among the various paths of contemporary musicality. In 2012 their debut album “SKROTES” was released by SIC Music, with a magazine format and available virtually. Classical, electronic, metal, noise, nothing escapes from the ears, like an ode to contravention from traditional compositions. A pleasant way to do what you cannot, with boldness and competence, without limitations. It’s spontaneous combustion of free music. Sounds unsual, but this fusion sound flows harmonically and has no magic formula to happen. It may show up as a spark driving Igor at one of his keyboards only to take shape in the hands of Ledoux and Chico. Nothing matters. Their songs are creations that never seem be finished, and probably will change every day, in every show, the next note, just like anything else in nature. To be released in January 2014, the new album from the Santa Catarina’s trio will be called Nessum Dorma (Nobody Sleeps), in reference to Puccini’s famous homonymous opera. The band member’s multiple musical references appear in the aparent infinte variation of rhythms and ideas that build up to an organised-chaos sound, represented in 10 tracks : Allegroland, Baixa Ajuda, Dois da Nega, Dr. Italo, Libertonho, Murruga Ali, TP, Vinicius Demorasse, Vou pra Bahia and Adogas. The ten tracks on the album (released in CD and Vinyl) were recorded with live capture, no cutouts or editing were used in the mix because the band wanted to preserve the atmosphere of their live concerts, which are very famous for the intensity and passion. Os SKROTES juntaram-se em 2009 sobre um repertório de leituras instrumentais de temas populares que calhou num convite para compor a trilha sonora do filme “Ilha 70” (Vinil Filmes). A experiência inspirou ainda mais a banda rumo às suas próprias composições. No entanto, estão longe de ser um trio instrumental convencional. Sem rótulos nem regras, os Skrotes transitam por todos os estilos que compõem a musicalidade de seus integrantes: Chico Abreu, Igor De Patta e Guilherme Ledoux. O primeiro registro da banda, um EP em 2010, traz uma pequena prova disso com três subversões de standards atemporais: “Estupro dos Cisnes”, “Yo no creo en milagros” e “Lei de Gagá”, além da inédita “Arco da Véia”. Doses contraindicadas de jazz, punk rock, brasilidades e música pop misturam-se numa pegada junkie quase despretenciosa. A fusão resulta em composições carregadas de simbolismos, de aleatórias influências e sensações. Um passeio lisérgico entre os diversos caminhos da musicalidade contemporânea. Em 2012 o album “SKROTES” é lançado pela SIC Music, em formato magazine e disponibilizado virtualmente. Música clássica, eletrônica, metal, noise, nada escapa aos ouvidos, como uma ode à contravenção da composição regrada. Um prazeroso fazer o que não se pode, com ousadia e competência, sem limitações. É combustão espontanea de música livre. Previsto para setembro de 2013, o novo trabalho do trio catarinense chama-se “Nessun Dorma” (na tradução do italiano, Ninguém Dorme), em referência à ópera homônima de Puccini As múltiplas referências musicais dos integrantes aparecem na variação de ritmos e ideias que constróem um sonoro caos organizado, representado em 10 faixas de títulos escrachados: Allegroland, Baixa Ajuda, Dois da Nêga, Dr. Ítalo, Libertonho, Murruga Ali, TP, Vinicius Demorasse, Vou pra Bahia e Adogás, esta última, uma viagem pelo jingle original do caminhão do gás. As dez faixas do álbum já estão gravadas com captação ao vivo, sem cortes nem edição. E agora contam com os entusiastas da boa música autoral para serem mixadas, masterizadas e prensadas em CD e em versão vinil 180G para colecionadores, através de uma campanha de crowdfunding na internet, em que o público compra cotas para ajudar a concretizar os projetos em que acredita, numa proposta que se consolida em todo o mundo como fonte alternativa de recursos para a cena independente.
