SemiosisQuartet Semiosis Quartet Boston, MA The Semiosis Quartet seeks to expand the repertoire for string quartet by fostering close relationships with living composers while exploring the roots of contemporary quartet writing in the 20th and 21st centuries. With a passion for improvisation, the quartet also explores realms of contemporary performance that break from Western traditions. Performances have been hosted by Equilibrium Concert Series, Church of the Advent Library Concert Series, August Noise JP, alongside the self produced concerts in venues throughout Boston and New York City. The Semiosis Quartet has worked closely with the JACK Quartet, composer Joan Tower, and the Muir Quartet at the 2015 Emerging Quartets and Composers Program at the Deer Valley Music Festival. In 2015, they collaborated with the world music duo Terra Madre for a guest artist performance at The Boston Conservatory. The Semiosis Quartet was Ensemble in Residence at the 2016 Cortona Sessions for New Music in Cortona, Italy. Members include violinists Natalie Calma and Nicole Parks, violist Oliver Chang, and cellist Ariel Friedman.
