Rukus Rukus Houston Rukus made a splash on the scene when the hit single “African Queen” received airplay in the U.S., U.K., Nigeria, and Ghana and was nominated for a Nigerian Entertainment Award (NEA). Rukus re-emerged the next year both in the U.S. and Nigeria appearing on the #1 afrobeat song in Nigeria, Eldee’s chart-topping hit, “Big Boy” (Remix). Oakland radio picked up Rukus’ touching tribute surrounding police brutality entitled “Dear Tatiana”; the song served as a rallying cry for Oakland residents outraged by the murder of Oscar Grant. Award winning actress, Zendaya, hailed the song as Rukus creatively touched on the effects of brutality while honoring the legacy of Grant; the song would go on to be offered placement in the Forrest Whitaker directed movie Fruitvale Station. His most recent project entitled NOIR, includes the viral hit “Black Jesus” and is a clinic on the relationship between religion and Black self-identity tackled in effortless fashion. The essence of hip-hop has always been stories, so the future is bright for Ruk. Rukus’s tracks ADULTING by Rukus published on 2025-07-17T22:45:39Z SUMMERTIME (feat.
