Xoki - Superdub Symmetry by rootplex published on 2010-10-06T11:32:01Z After a long summer hibernation rootplex awakens, and brings fresh new moody bass bumps – perfectly suited for this autumn season. Superdub Symmetry is Xoki's followup to Shades of Ultradub, which showcased his original fusion of technoid dubstep and garage with a dark, dubby and reduced aesthetic. This time the sound is rougher, thicker and oozing with boombastic funk momentum. Super-Symmetry starts of with an earth-rattling bass loop which gradually builds into a super-dubbefied slice of dark techy garage, with toe-tapping percussion syncopations, fat evolving synth pads and a groove to die for. Rain Dwellers turns the pace down a notch, and starts a journey of multilayered, rain-soaked big city melancholia in a dubhouse style. Full of blurry, dusty synth chords singing the futurist blues while hazy vocal snippets float in and out of focus – like long lost memories of people and places. Super-Magnetic marks an end to the piece, with it's instantaneous funk flowing freely beneath the ancient sounding organs, flutes and tambourines. A thick and dirty dub aesthetic is present throughout the track, with wet splashy effect patterns and a devastating bass groove. Three slices of fine dub-infused grooveage for the people.
