Zare - Blue Screen of Death (electroacoustic) by Roger Zare published on 2011-05-18T18:21:28Z This electroacoustic piece was composed for my electronic music class at the University of Michigan between February and April 2011. It was sequenced and edited in Protools. The sounds that I used in this piece come from two sources - recordings of various squeaky or grating objects that I encounter around my apartment or at school, and 'found' audio created by forcing common .exe files into PCM packages. The music explores the organic nature of both sound worlds, first dwelling in the squeaks and then jarringly transitioning to the digital.About halfway through, the sound fades, paving the way for the combination of the two sound worlds in the final two minutes. The cataclysmic nature of the digitalized sounds gave me the idea to name it after one of our favorite windows phenomena. For more information on Roger Zare, please visit http://www.rogerzare.com Genre Electroacoustics Comment by Bryan Schumann My heart is beating so fast right now... 2012-10-31T20:22:57Z
