Dallas Tx
From musician to songwriter to producer, Mclellan always had an ear for sound starting with his first drum kit at the age of 4. At age 17, he played in his first live band, “Sgt. Flyer”. Playing mainly alternative, experimental rock, Mclellan played drums all over the local Dallas scene.
After two years with Sgt. Flyer, Mclellan decided to expand his musical experience and began a three-year career with a punk rock, indie alternative band called “Spill”. Within no time, Spill released the album No Work Tomorrow and had airplay from 102.1 The Edge, a Dallas rock station.
While with Spill, Mclellan played shows with major artists such as The Calling, Dexter Freebish, Bob Schneider and The Scabs, Bowling for Soup, Bush, Goo Goo Dolls, and many more, even doing the National Anthem at the Stars hockey game on a worldwide New Year’s Eve broadcast. Evan and the rest of the guys from “Spill” also collaborated with the very talented Kelsey Toney doing a song called “After Today,” a 9/11 tribute song, which received many national airplays.
Mclellan moved from Spill into the studio, learning how to create his own tracks. Soon, he began work on a project with Mr. Clinton Young, a.k.a.” Moon Criket”, producing a powerful hip hop album.
The album Black Matter has gotten response from people across the world and resulted in shows with such people as Erykah Badu, Strange Fruit Project, George Clinton and the P-Funk, Devin the Dude and many local artists. In November 2007, Mclellan opened Next Level Sound, a home recording studio outside of Dallas, where he has been recording and producing for local artists the past four years.
In August 2009, Mclellan was chosen as one of 15 aspiring hip-hop producers to take part in the filming of a reality TV show pilot entitled “School of Beats” hosted by platinum rapper Lil’ Flip, which he then won. He has produced Grammy award winning duo “Play n Skillz” first single “Up All Night” off their 2011 Halloween Released mixtape Red October, Which has received multiple positive write-ups including “D” Magazine.
Currently he has released his self-titled instrumental album, which is available on numerous sites including ITunes, Spotify, Google Play, and Amazon.
