Ming-Hsiu Yen 顏名秀 Ming-Hsiu Yen Taipei, TAIWAN Ming-Hsiu YEN is an active composer and pianist. Her compositions have been played in Taiwan, Japan, France, Korea, Hong Kong, China, and throughout the United States, by such orchestras as the Minnesota Orchestra, National Symphony Orchestra (Taiwan), among others. A winner of the Asian Composers League Yoshiro Irino Memorial Prize among others, she also received commission awards from the Hanson Institute for American Music, etc., and her music has been recorded on Innova Recordings and Blue Griffin Recording labels. As a prize-winning pianist, she performed concertos written by Barber, Corigliano and herself with the UM Symphony Orchestra and frequently appears in new music festivals throughout the United States, including The Intimacy of Creativity, the Once. More. Festival, among others. Ms. Yen holds degrees from the University of Michigan (DMA in composition; MM in composition and piano performance) and the Eastman School of Music (BM). She served as Composer-in-Residence/Adjunct Associate Professor at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and is currently serving as Associate Professor at the Taipei National University of the Arts in Taiwan.
