MARICELLE Maricelle Music City Maricelle is an Indie Pop R&B artist, featuring heavy beats, unrestrictedly experimental electronic elements and hypnotic vocals. This millenial's perspective is a raw exposure of the new world, doused in a futuristic mural of pop culture and fluid identity. Her music nudges at androgynous ambiguity and the search for freedom in creative expression. Her self-written songs are euphoric and dreamy soundtracks that are honest social commentaries - anthems about epiphanies, disconnection, wanderlust, change, individuality, empowerment, ambition and the pursuit of happiness. She is influenced by artists such as Ellie Goulding, Tove Lo, Taylor Swift, Fka Twigs and Coldplay. She began songwriting under the NAC NOISE mentorship programme with veteran Kevin Matthews. She has showcased her original songs at the Esplanade, NUS UCC, Red Dot Museum, Artistry and TAB. She co-wrote for runner-up Shaun Jansen on the Mediacorp "Final One" idol show, was a finalist in the NEA ECO songwriting competition, and has completed the Ocean Butterflies Songwriting and arrangement course. After a hiatus to hone her songwriting skills, her fresh emergence was kickstarted by performances with Gareth Fernandez and Jawn at the Esplanade for 'All things new', and the Budweiser Made For Music songwriting competition. She is currently collaborating with NAC to produce her PURSUIT EP independently with James Lye Studios, launching 7 January 2017.
