LukeNative Luke Native Vancouver Having played from Miami to Manhattan on a consistent basis. Luke originally started buying vinyl as a way to indulge in a new hobby, while being influenced and blown away by the sounds emerging from the after-hours in Montreal. After six months of doing so he started working at one of Montreal’s most well known record shop Tabou International DJ (a forefront of the dance scene in Montreal which started selling house in 1982). Having graduated from university with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. It was in 2004 where he found his home in music. Younan Music: a digital label for a digital world. With friend and colleague Saeed Younan, together as forward thinkers formed one of the first digital labels, where at the time was frowned upon and the thought of the digital revolution was only a thought in the back of everyone’s head. Obviously many years later, the revolution is in full force and Luke continues to assist the label with added duties of A&R & PR. Together with hard work and perseverance Younan Music has established itself as a quality label with over 50 releases under its belt with heavy support from a who’s who list of big name DJs. Artists ranging from Dubai to Melbourne, Younan Music releases are constantly seen in the Top 10 downloads at Beatport.com, as no artist will go unnoticed. Furthermore, Luke is also best known for his popular radio show Native Love with Luke Native. A Sunday afternoon tradition on KULT.fm based out of NYC. Standing at eight years strong and still growing, Native Love has received Honorable mentions in past years and in 2008 broke the Top 10 in the Best of Montreal Mirror at #8 for Best Local Radio Host as voted by readers of the Mirror newspaper. Having established himself in the city of Montreal with his radio show and playing in the top clubs and bars in the city, Luke always looks forward to having his friends and fellow listeners tune in to check out what he calls deep, dirty, soulful, groovy, funky, vocal with a touch of tech house.
