Clouds Prevented Further Observing 1770 (2011) by Kim Walker published on 2011-07-20T11:51:58Z Three channel audio installation with field recordings and collected stones. (7:23 minutes) Clouds Prevented Further Observing 1770 takes as reference an experiment from the distant past that took place on the slopes of Schiehallion mountain in Perthshire. By calculating the mass of the mountainside, the hope was then to calculate the mass of the Earth based on the data received. My assumption that the experiment was a failure, a moment in time that is now assigned to the records of the Royal Society of London, was what inspired me to visit the mountain and convey my own experience of Schiehallion on a day in July 2011. Commissioned by Cooper Summer Residency 2011, Exhibitions, DJCAD. http://www.exhibitions.dundee.ac.uk/ Genre Sound Art Comment by Oreaganomics I like the beat during this part!
