jo nicholson Joanna nicholson phoenix Originally from Alaska, Jo has been writing and playing music for over twenty years. She got her start playing bars and coffee shops in the Anchorage area. In 1994 she joined with Jess Tauer to form the acoustic duo "Denali Wilde" and began playing throughout Alaska. They recorded a collection of original songs (Think I'm in Luck) and in 1995 embarked on an 8 month west coast tour, playing from Seattle to San Diego. Best known for the song, "Dyke Radar Blues", written by Jo-it was a frequent request after receiving college radio play. When the duo went their separate ways, Jo continued her songwriting while pursuing other endeavors, including a graduate degree in sociology. A born musician, she could not stay away from performing, and continued to play whenever possible. Jo's talent for telling her often comedic stories in verse, then coupling the words with original music, makes her a favorite amongst gay and lesbian audiences. Her gigs have included the Alaska Women's Music Festival, AWAIC Summer Solstice Festival, the Alaska State Fair, Talkeetna Bluegrass Festival, and a wide variety of other venues, large and small. Performing originals as well as the occasional cover, Jo shares with the audience her perspective on love, life, and the quest for comfortable footwear. jo nicholson’s tracks Thinking of you by jo nicholson published on 2014-03-27T19:02:52Z Steel On Stone by jo nicholson published on 2013-09-14T01:14:34Z Let Sky Burn by jo nicholson published on 2013-09-14T01:10:33Z Flat Cat by jo nicholson published on 2013-09-14T01:02:51Z The Dyke Radar Blues by jo nicholson published on 2013-09-14T00:37:04Z The Wheel by jo nicholson published on 2013-09-12T20:38:30Z Cool In Blue by jo nicholson published on 2013-09-10T03:27:33Z Time Consumes by jo nicholson published on 2013-08-02T17:15:27Z
