South London based James Fox has quickly established himself as a producer and DJ that blends the jack and groove of the rawest deep house with the soundsystem bass pressure of the UK underground.
His debut 12” release ‘Put It Back’ on TAKE Records caught the ear of those in the know, receiving support from DJs as diverse as Fabric’s Terry Francis and Rinse FM’s Alexander Nut. Follow up release ‘New Jack Swing’ on Brighton’s Well Rounded Housing Project was billed by many as the tune of summer 2011; blending a classic R&B vocal with deep bass hits and pitchbent synths, it received heavy rotation from DJs like Martyn, Midland, Jackmaster and Julio Bashmore throughout the year.
An experienced DJ, Fox is equally at home either warming up, playing at peak time or closing the night . His tightly mixed and imaginatively programmed sets have been heard at venues such as The CAMP, Corsica Studios, Glasgow Art School and Sankey’s Soap, as well as the main room at Secretsundaze’s epic NYE 2011 party alongside Kyle Hall, Ame and Levon Vincent.
With 2012 promising a series of collaborations with some of UK house music’s brightest talents and follow up 12”s for both Well Rounded and TAKE Records, James Fox is at the forefront of a new breed of producers and DJs taking house music into the 21st century.
