Country Pond At Dusk by Ray Bayer published on 2011-05-12T19:06:28Z This is a 4 track mix of the progression of the sounds of a pond at dusk from all birds (just about all red winged blackbirds) to a deafening crescendo of a variety of frogs....mostly spring peepers. This happened over the course of about 1 hour and I've attempted to condense it to show this progression. When I got to the pond last night at around 7:30 it was a flurry of active red winged blackbirds getting their last vocalizations in before nightfall with the constant chirping of smaller feathered creatures...maybe young ones. There's also a crackling in the reeds in front of my mics. Don't know what that's from. Within an hour the last of the blackbird's songs were all but drowned out by the amphibians ear piercing songs. Country in my area is a relative term. It's simply an area with a bit less traffic.....you can still hear the occasional auto noise and other noises that are the bane of all nature recordistsbut.....oh well. Sound Devices 702 and two AT4022's in a Boundary Array. The Array is the Danielson PBB2N with a modified front nose. The plans call for a 2 1/2" wide nose but I modified my baffle to be 7" wide with the aluminum nose being 5"wide. Hear any difference? The track available on the 'Buy This Track' link is shorter by about 4 minutes because of the length limit that Bandcamp imposses. Click for Country Pond At Dusk Location Genre Nature Soundscape
