Five Random Samples by Wouter Hisschemöller

This track is entirely made out of five samples. The samples were downloaded from www.freesound.org and were selected with the 'random sample' option in Freesound's navigation bar.

The samples were edited and arranged into a new track with Ableton Live.

After the track was finished, the edited samples were exported as separate wav files and uploaded back to www.freesound.org as a new sample pack for others to download so they in turn can use them in their productions.

I worked like this because I noticed I'm more productive when I restrict myself. I tend to get lost in the unlimited possibilities of music production on the computer if I don't.

I thought of this Freesound download / upload idea after I watched the Secondhand Sureshots documentary by Stone's Throw Records, where producers get five dollars to buy thrift store records and sample those records for material to build new tracks. Those new tracks were then pressed on vinyl and 'secretly' put back in the record crates at the thrift stores where the originals were bought. I liked the idea that you get something from the community, use it for what you want to do, and in the end return something for others to use.

Per request in forums; male voice stating "we know your name" multiple times with different inflections. Recorded using Zoom H4 recorder as audio interface to Soundtrack Pro in Mac OS 10.4. Noise and pause removal in Soundtrack Pro.
