Geert Veneklaas

Composer of contemporary classical music for piano solo Geert Veneklaas has been playing the piano since he was six years old. With his broad musical interest and the urge to understand how music works, he seemed destined to work in education after his training as a music teacher, but instead he followed his heart to become a pop musician as a keyboard player in the Dutch band Moonflower. Despite a radio hit and some listings in the Dutch charts, touring the club circuit and receiving a lot of media attention, it still proved difficult to earn a living as a keyboard player. Geert put an end to his career as a pop musician, but continued to develop himself - alongside his day job - as a composer and arranger in his home studio. This resulted, among other things, in a score for a short film that was screened at several international film festivals. Geert's ambition has recently taken flight by focusing on composing modern classical (or 'neoclassical') piano compositions, and thereby returning to a part of his roots. His first album 'Reflections' was released in 2023.
