I am a 32 year old guitar player from North Carolina, USA. I enjoy metal, rock, blues, jazz, and classical. I dislike hard rock, soft rock, and southern classic rock. I hate child pop stars, boy bands, cover bands, tribute bands, wedding bands, scene, core, post, hardcore, dub, and glitch. I appreciate a well crafted idea, but I love hearing improvisation, as that is my primary method for developing new ideas. I have an expansive catalog that draws influence from the above mentioned influences, and additionally lots of world music by proximity. My next instrument to learn is a guqin....it's seriously heavy....which brings me to my closing mission statement, if you will indulge me:

All music needs to be heavy, the notes must bear a tangible weight, borne from emotion, hardship, or issues of injustice, persecution, perhaps a crisis of faith.

The second you bring a studio band, and an attractive lead together soley to sell t-shirts, you can be sure, you've gone astray.

Weezer retains their edge by going back to college and working a regular job in between records to reconnect with the very thing they sought to get away from; the american dream, but for real...the struggle to keep the lights on, do a good job everyday, maintain your meager possessions, have a social life, fall in love, and out of love, to hurt, to struggle, to live.
