I was born and raised in Detroit’s Metro West Side. I grew up loving all kinds of music. My parent’s exposed me to everything from Led Zeppelin and Parliament to Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock. I would rock out to Metallica bust it with Run DMC. I went through everything from punk and classic rock to funk and classic Bach. I got some flower power from state to state with The Grateful Dead and Phish, and Juan Atkins and Richie Hawtin provided me with plenty of run down Detroit warehouse grit.
In 1998 I saw DJ Dara play at an outdoor event down by the river. He was playin’ some stuff I only dreamed about. That dread was droppin’ Drum N’ Bass and this dread decided that he wanted to also. I spent some time in San Francisco and Oakland chasing the beat in the urban jungle until I found my home for the next 6 years in Portland, OR. I started buying records, though I couldn’t afford my own tables. With the help of The One DJ Antix 1200 I quickly learned the ways of Drum & Bass, Jungle and what would become my signature; Ragga Jungle. I played some clubs, house parties, outdoor parties wherever and whenever I could. There once was a crew known as Megaforce that was an enigma in itself and is still alive today in some ways in the PDX. I’m proud to say I was a part of a very diverse group of people including a man like DJ Elementary, Miss Briana, Suff-X, and a man like the formerly known MC Glitch.
I have always had a passion for sounds and how they are created. I have always loved to make noise and wished someday I could record that bedspring or metal handrail and somehow make it music. I got to the point where I wanted to make the music I was DJ-ing. I experimented with mainstream hip-hop to IDM. I found myself developing my own sound. That is when I found my new home at Dubterrain.net and the true meaning of Dubstep. My love for the genre has changed my whole outlook on all music. I’ve learned much from all the Selecta’s on DT, especially The One Gunvnah DJ Distinct, DJ Satlfeend and Papa Roc and the rest of the ReDub crew. I have started DJ-ing again on Dubterrain.net with my weekly show Me Fuzzy Warbles every Thursday night 8PM CST (1:00) GMT while working steadily on my own productions.

The Acid Mixes is his first official original release - co-producing and collaborating to create a single with four distinct directions and an introduction to the rebirth of DJ Sahnik.

DJ Sahnik's debut full length album Collide, a true collision of sounds is now available for download on junodownloads, iTunes, and several other digital download sites.

"Always trying new things and pushing the limits of my wits and my speakers, I am in a constant change in my productions. I have many tracks in different stages each different but similar in their own ways. I plan to progress with the music as the music progresses with me and as always have a blast doing it. All art, music included is made to invoke some state of emotion within the human mind, body and spirit and I hope I can at least gift that to the masses."
