this will be the last track on the album. I'm still messing around with the last part, specifically whether vocals will run through that whole section, or just the latter half of it. we'll see.Lost House Uploaded by deadwhenifoundher Start following Send a message on August 17, 2009 23:12

[expletive]... tell me.. are you the never-mentioned member of skinny puppy/FLA? great 80's "industrial" sound AND THAT is not a bad thing at all.

Where in the world did you find these voice samples? Brilliant work.
- deadwhenifoundher on August 09, 2009 07:13
@Haploid: they're actually just public domain samples I found hunting around on the net! amazing what you can dig up with some diligent searching.

a bit of a departure from the rest -- moody instrumental with groovy bass and sweeping pads.Subject Reject Uploaded by deadwhenifoundher Start following Send a message on July 22, 2009 02:57

Awesome intro man. Not too long or too short. I love how you dropped the 4/4 beat here.

I like your drums. What do you use? o.o
- deadwhenifoundher on August 09, 2009 19:24
@kobodaishi: I build massive drum kits with ableton live's Drum Racks, using samples that I've collected over time from all sorts of places/methods. live's drum racks are defnitely my favorite software drum tool. thanks for all the great comments.

This break is very emotional. The melody hits the heart pretty hard. How did you come up with it? o.o

killer piano work, any chance I could hear a copy of the tune without the vocal snippets by chance!?
- deadwhenifoundher on May 12, 2009 22:30
@ReWIR3d: yeah I'm going to do a non-movie-sample version, i've gotten very mixed feedback on that element overall; I can easily strip them out and see how it sounds (though I think I prefer them!)
- somedesperateglory on May 12, 2009 22:47
@deadwhenifoundher: I'll weigh in the anti-movie-samples side. To my taste, the music sounds better on its own... or with your singing (which is quite good BTW). Although I admit I like the first sample in the track.
- Cutter Filtoff on June 29, 2009 23:59
@deadwhenifoundher: I think if the samples were more sparse and effected they would be less distracting from the intrumental, which is quite nice BTW/
- deadwhenifoundher on June 30, 2009 05:10
@Cutter Filtoff: I pretty much agree. I keep meaning to get back to this one and spread the samples out a lot. thanks for listening.
-
@deadwhenifoundher: No, please don't fix something that is not broken :) I personally like this track as it is currently This sounds very much like Doubting Thomas.
-
@Kermie: If you do a different version of this track, at least keep this version also. I personally don't find the speech samples distracting at all since they are long enough.. when I listen to the track it's like a movie inside my head.
-
@Kermie: I love the samples too ... not always but on this track definitely.

Is this a live bass guitar, or a sample? It sounds REALLY good. In my tracks, people usually don't notice the bass guitar, but would notice it if it *weren't* there... I like how yours is more up front.

Dude, I know this song is 3 months old but holy fuck. Sick ass bassline. I love how classic this track sounds. It's amazing. What sort of effects and instruments do you use in Live?
- deadwhenifoundher on August 09, 2009 19:27
@kobodaishi: in this song in particular I used the KORG legacy software a whole lot -- M1 and Wavestation, especially the latter, are used heavily. I use live's instruments a bit (operator, analog) but mostly 3rd party plugs, korg, native instruments, etc.

Great, great track. I like the late 80s electro vibe. I can hear echoes of Warlock in there.
