New Zealand born and West Auckland based Producer/DJ Blake Knapping describes his passion for Music as not merely a hobby or interest but more of a RELIGION. Being bought up listening to the likes of Earth, wind and fire at and early age and witnessing Michael Jackson live in concert at only 7 years old, Blake knew that he always had a liking of the more funky side of the musical spectrum…

It wasn’t until Blake’s late teenage years however, that he was to discover a major musical passion in the form of electronic music. Whilst being open to the many avenues and pathways of electronic music, it was the funky and soulful sounds of house music that was to grasp Blake’s ears and attention. In a typical set from Blake you can expect to hear all sounds that fall under the umbrella of house, from deep to tech , jackin and funky, not pigeon holing one particular style but always keeping it fresh. Two major influences both with production and djing style for Blake are house music legend Dennis Ferrer and underground house heavyweight Sonny fodera.

Undertaking a production course at Auckland’s Mainz in 2011, Blake has started producing his own house tracks under the moniker Blake:Shake. Having a strong dislike for anything ‘commercial’ Blake keeps his sound on the underground tip, influenced by the styles from Chicago and European house.
