A track for Disquiet Junto Project 0350: Selected Insomniac Works
The Assignment: Make very quiet music for very late at night for very fragile psyches.
Sleep of course is a sinister thing
This track was made entirely with pro tools plug in instruments , several tracks of wheel organ and the grand piano. Obviously lots of reverb and echo and vintage filter. Although the track is slow and fairly unrhythmical the bpm slips from 120 to 113 throughout the track. This subtly spaces out the midi notes and alters some of the filter rates which are synched to the clock. There is also a backwards version of the piano track in there too.
Just listened back be fore uploading and I think the stereo delays still sounds a little too hard for a nice headphone listen- especially if you are using the track to sleep...
Took the challenges straight. I deliberately went for a restricted pallet of sounds, and notes - so no surprises for the listener. The filtering organs attempting to sound weary, falling, woozy. As a consequence the track may be a little too banal for the awake human.
