Jah Warrior "African King Dub" ZamZam 05 B Side (edit) by ZamZam Sounds published on 2012/09/01 18:47:19 +0000 It is no exaggeration to say that Steve Mosco AKA Jah Warrior is one of the pillars of UK dub. Active on the soundsystem scene from the early 80s, and producing since at least 1990, he has one of the most distinctive signature styles in all of UK soundsystem culture. Jah Warrior has worked with countless reggae greats from Horace Andy to Jah Mason, Peter Broggs to Tena Stelin. Recently his “Dub From The Heart” reissue on the Honest Jon’s label re/introduced Jah Warrior to a new generation of electronic dubheads worldwide. “African King” and its corresponding dub version are powerful, driving, solemn and dread steppers cuts as mighty as anything previously produced by Jah Warrior. Deftly mixed by the legendary Russ Disciples at Disciples studio, the A side is a 4/4 stormer full of captivating melody, while the B strips it all back to revel in amazing space, depth and clarity. A true UK dub masterwork that will flatten any dancefloor. This ZamZam 7” release is limited to 500 copies for the world, hand screen printed and stamped by Polygon Press, and pressed on thick 50 gram vinyl. This is the fifth release on the new label from Ezra Ereckson and Tracy Harrison, two of the music lovers who brought you BSI Records. ZamZam releases dubs for the dance from the entire roots dub > steppers dub > dubtech > experimental dub continuum.
