Rraddaar [disquiet344] by ymeynard published on 2018-08-07T04:21:17Z I ran out of time with this project, but I didn’t want to simply give up on it. I had fun with my latest plug-in purchase (JPS Harmonic Synthesizer), which provided all the sounds. The pad chords are palindromic, while the two melody instruments attempt to mirror one another. The tonal center isn’t always the same, and one instrument is delayed by 150ms to avoid sounding too obviously artificial. I’d have liked to play them live, as I did the chords, but raw sequencing is all I had time for. I added a bass that plays on even-numbered measures, but switches to odd-numbered measures after the central section. A hi-hat replies to the bass, but there was no time to add more percussion. The name reflects the deliberately imperfect palindromic character of the piece, such as it is. + + + More on this 344th weekly Disquiet Junto project (Careful Symmetries: The Assignment: Explore palindromes in musical form) at: https://disquiet.com/0344/ More on the Disquiet Junto at: https://disquiet.com/junto/ Subscribe to project announcements here: http://tinyletter.com/disquiet-junto/ Project discussion takes place on llllllll.co: https://llllllll.co/t/disquiet-junto-project-0344-careful-symmetries/ There’s also a Junto Slack. Palindromes can be boring in they're perfection, this has beauty in its imperfection! :-) 2018-08-09T00:45:02Z Comment by Ya Wha? JM Jarre swept pad sounds wonderful behind the engaging front parts. That middle section interlude works great too. I note you were caught for time, but I would have loved this to go on for more! 2018-08-07T13:47:26Z
