Encircling Strata - disquiet0318 by Ya Wha? published on 2018-02-04T02:12:47Z Disquiet Junto Project 0318: Linear Training Record a piece of music composed of variations on the same held tone. CC0 picture from http://www.publicdomainpictures.net/view-image.php?image=102553&picture=&jazyk=HU Held a B note into NI's Prism synth, a patch named Wandering Organism, from a wonderful modulation-rich Reaktor extension to Prism by Don Garbutt: (http://www.dongarbutt.com/animatorforprism.html) Recorded the audio - about 12 seconds, to catch the last modulation. Kept one dry track, and duplicated the audio track nine times, each with a different chain of effects. In keeping with the project brief, no other audio was used. The dry note stars at the start. Lots of effects used here, let me tell you... :-O All purring away in Ableton 9 on my Win7 32-bit machine. They don't make them like they used to... :-) Hope you enjoy. Genre Ambient Comment by Ya Wha? @deusexmamiya: Thanks - yeah it's really a showcase of what modern digital effects processors can do... I know what you mean - something diatonically tuneful is an easier listen. I hope I to have created something that engages the listener, created something that captured the ebb and flow of various sonic emotions across the stereo stage. 2018-03-16T11:26:11Z Comment by DeusExMamiya Amazing that this is all based on a single note. I'm not a huge fan of "random tonal weirdness" - no doubt due to scarred childhood memories of those early 1970s National Film Board of Canada short films! - but the soothing continuous "dry track" underlying this ties it together nicely. 2018-03-15T11:57:41Z Comment by Ya Wha? @becks: Thank you very much, glad you enjoyed 2018-03-01T14:16:39Z Comment by becks awesome soundscape 2018-03-01T14:09:47Z Comment by Ya Wha? @funkiabrj: Thanks! 2018-02-22T16:02:24Z Comment by Ya Wha? @assarodrigo: That's great, that's what I hoped for.. It's a programmable 8-bit computer with DSP capabilities... Sonic Charge has something like 8 different firmwares that you can load in to the plugin - bitcrushing, delays, filtering, even a drum machine - and that'll be the Tape firmware I used there... 2018-02-06T16:09:54Z Comment by Ya Wha? @wust: Thanks! 2018-02-06T16:03:45Z Comment by WÜST amazing ambient work, enjoyed this a lot. 2018-02-06T15:30:31Z Comment by WÜST love the on and off so great man!!! 2018-02-06T15:28:53Z Comment by WÜST wonderful atmosphere you created here 2018-02-06T15:26:23Z Comment by taRka @yawha: my pleasure, it was a hella ride 2018-02-06T03:43:48Z Comment by Ya Wha? @myrhyum Delighted you enjoyed, and thanks for the repost ☺️ 2018-02-06T03:04:43Z Comment by taRka ambient rollercoaster :D 2018-02-06T02:49:39Z Comment by name constant @yawha: :) 2018-02-05T21:37:50Z Comment by Ya Wha? @random-coil In fact, another track was named "Pictish" 😊 2018-02-05T21:29:11Z Comment by Ya Wha? @random-coil Good stuff!
