Kingston
Blending Roots Reggae, Lovers Rock, and Dancehall under the umbrella of one sound, International Singjay Reggae Artiste X-amount is popping with style and rhythm. Born Gus Knight III hailing from the Empire State of New York, the now Kingston, Jamaica-based vocalist has received widespread acclaim for his musical catalogue, which includes hit singles like “Lifetime Survivor” (Weedy G, VP Records) and “Garden Of Roses” (Phat Trax/Mega Hits International Records).
X-amount was indoctrinated into the Reggae Culture. At an early age, his father introduced him to Reggae legends like Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, and Gregory Isaacs, giving him a solid musical foundation and paving the way for his future career. As he got older, he learned a variety of skills that would help him down the road, including songwriting, music production, audio engineering, fashion design & graphics. On top of that, X-amount attended Full Sail University, where he recently graduated Valedictorian with an Associate’s Degree in Audio Production. With his skills sharpened, he realized that help from a higher power would enable him to do unimaginable things with his music - he reached out and received his stage name through pure divine intervention.
He is one of the newest, youngest artists to be endorsed by the renowned Jamaican Stone Love Soundsystem, and his tracks have been nominated for several distinctions, including a place on VP Records’ Powerful Song list and SUNCITY 104.9FM’s Hot Track of The Week feature. The International artiste has been performing locally in Jamaica and abroad for several years now. He has opened stage shows for Legendary acts such as King Yellowman, Lady Saw (now Marion Hall), Elephant Man, Baby Cham, amongst others. Aside from his on-stage persona, X-amount is a strong advocate for the improvement of disadvantaged communities, and is extremely passionate when called upon to empower the youth.
“Reggae music allows me to express myself in a creative way while connecting with my West Indian heritage and passion,” X-amount says when asked about his career goals. “It gives me a platform to bring a message that promotes social justice and change. I desire to reach and connect to the hearts and souls of my listeners.” Thus far, his ambitions have proven successful. On countless occasions his fans have told him how relatable his songs are to their everyday life.
Although his name is commonly used in a phrase, he has made it clear to the world that there are no limitations or boundaries to his creative process. His delivery is powerful and the message is clear: No matter how hard they try to set the limit, he is known within the industry and streets as the one and only...X-amount caah count!
