When it comes down to the hype, her name says it all. She is Worthy.
Worthy is an artist with a deeply intuitive understanding of production, mixing and performance. She has the insight to play for her audience every time, cultivating intense positive energy and an energetic dance floor camaraderie.
From salty-aired islands to dark club basements over the past 20 years, Worthy has shown reverence to the traditional form of classic House even while tripping off the mark & sinking into euphoric, less-charted territories of booty-clapping bass.
“The Worthy sound has always been powerful, rocking, funky, bass-driven music at its best, and for me this is the new wave in House music.” – Carl Cox
Growing up in Washington DC, Worthy was energized by the early American rave scene. Moving to New York in the late ‘90s, she was inspired by artists like LTJ Bukem & Stacey Pullen to play records across multiple genres, from techno and breaks to hip-hop and drum & bass.
In 2001 she swapped coastlines to San Francisco and teamed up with Claude VonStroke & Justin & Christian Martin to establish the Dirtybird party. Worthy’s breakout track was on Dirtybird Records in 2007 and “Irst Te” quickly established her notoriety as a producer. With other bangers on the label such as “Shy Look” (2012), “Tric Trac” with Eats Everything (2011) and “Dip” (2013), Worthy has been rocking the Dirtybird sound for over a decade.
She launched Anabatic Records in 2004, now featuring over 100 releases including from such artists as Will Clarke, Tom Flynn, and Nick Monaco. Worthy and Anabatic remain at the forefront of finding and developing emerging talent. In 2014 Worthy released her debut full-length album Disbehave on Anabatic, a genre-defying rebellion against the House producer’s status quo. Breaking down rules & boundaries, Worthy sought to set herself apart - striking out to release something unexpected. Disbehave was accepted with critical acclaim & received notable press attention. In 2015, Worthy released a 2-part remix album of Disbehave with artists including Will Clarke, Walker & Royce, Thugfucker, Stanton Warriors, Yolanda be Cool and many other amazing producers.
She has been a one-woman storm as a producer and DJ. She has played the massive Coachella, Dirtybird Campout, Burning Man, and Ultra festivals, and released on multiple top labels such as Defected, Exploited, Insomniac, and Toolroom. In 2020 Worthy came out as transgender and surprised the world and her fans. She has since been a light for other LGBTQ+ artists and the community. In finding the path to her authentic self she has been transparent and open to showing and teaching the trans experience.
