The Messier Objects: M82 [disquiet0352] by Krakenkraft published on 2018-09-29T16:07:45Z The sound of Messier 82 (NGC3034, "Cigar Galaxy") varies, depending on the part of the spectrum you listen to. -- The image of M82 is a composite with three layers combining data from the telescopes Spitzer, Hubble and Chandra. Credit: NASA/JPL-Caltech/STScI/CXC/UofA/ESA/AURA/JHU https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:M82_Chandra_HST_Spitzer.jpg -- (Production notice for disquiet junto members:) I created a melody and two permutations of it (D harmonic minor). These are introduced in the order of A, B and C and then permutated in different combinations. To avoid too much obvious minimalism, I varied the melodies over three octaves, used some delay and reverb, and the whole score changes between three layers of instrumentation (sine, saw, piano). -- More on this 352nd weekly Disquiet Junto project (Layering Permutations / The Assignment: Play something melodic atop two variations) at: https://disquiet.com/0352/ More on the Disquiet Junto at: https://disquiet.com/junto/ Subscribe to project announcements here: http://tinyletter.com/disquiet-junto/ Project discussion takes place on llllllll.co: https://llllllll.co/t/disquiet-junto-project-0352-layering-permutations/ Genre disquiet0352 Comment by schtean nice 2018-12-06T04:48:42Z Comment by Krakenkraft @vonna-wolf: thx, Vonna! 2018-10-05T09:09:16Z Comment by Vonna Wolf visual sonic frequency bliss 2018-10-04T13:18:26Z Comment by Krakenkraft @nonwrestler: Thx!. I was tempted to make this peace triple as long, to explore more unobtrusive instrument changes… 2018-09-30T09:31:17Z Comment by Jet Jaguar (NZ) I particularly like the switching between instruments. Works really well here. 2018-09-30T01:14:20Z Comment by Krakenkraft @daniel-diaz: Merci! 2018-09-29T19:14:43Z Comment by Daniel Diaz exellent. 2018-09-29T17:11:22Z
