According to legend, the Windbeat members first met as fellow travelers finding refuge in the winter of 1694 at the Tiger 's Nest Monastery in Bhutan. It was here that they made their first sounds together. The music they discovered atop that cold, solitary mountain peak was so entrancing that they played for years--not aging a day.
The gods, fearing that humans had discovered the secret to immortality, awakened a terrible wind that swept in from all directions, carrying each of the six members away; scattering them equidistantly across the earth.
The wind had picked them up so quickly that the gods believed they traveled faster than the music could follow, causing each of them to forget. But they were mistaken. The beats and the melodies stayed buried deep in their souls like a nostalgic sense of deja vu.
Although it has taken lifetimes, those six travelers have managed to find each other again, and the beats began to beat just a little bit louder as they reunited one by one, awakening those songs from long ago. If legend holds true, then Windbeat could be separated yet once again, and the music they create lost to humanity all over--fortunately, however, this is the century of digital recording and easily distributed mass media.
Get what so many lives have died trying to find. Get it while you still can.
The six members of Windbeat met in Kochi, Japan--an amazing place that has inspired their music. Coming from four different countries, they all bring different experiences and music appreciation to the table.
The current members got together in the fall of 2009, and wondered how they could possibly make music with a guitar, ukelele, didgeridoo, shakuhachi, and various South American and African percussion...
And now, Windbeat have released an EP. These recordings offer the first glimpse of the fruits of their labor, a sound that will continue to progress and evolve, but maintain what is and will be known as the sound of Windbeat.
