I am Paul Taylor and I currently work for the Aberdeen IronBirds, as well as SFMSports.Net.
I began working with the Aberdeen IronBirds for the 2011 season, as a Public Relations and Broadcast Intern. I helped the Media Relations department fill media requests and helped facilitate player interviews. I also conducted pre-game interviews before every home game, broadcast each home game, and wrote feature stories on the IronBirds’ players that were published on the team website, blog, and game day magazine.
Following the 2011 season with the IronBirds, I began working for SFMSports.Net, broadcasting high school football in Harford County, Maryland each week. In the Fall of 2012, as a part of my duties with SFMSports.Net, I became the voice of the Stevenson University Women’s Ice Hockey team, calling all 25 games of their inaugural season. In the Spring, I filled in as play-by-play for select Stevenson University Women’s Lacrosse games.
In April, 2013, I was named the Media Relations Manager and Broadcast Director for the IronBirds. In addition to the duties performed as an intern in 2011, I led a trio of interns for the season. I compiled daily stat packs and Media Notes, wrote press releases, hosted a pre-game show on the field for home games, and called every game of the season, both home and away. I also wrote game recaps and posted them to the team website.
During the 2013-2014 school year, I returned for a second season as the voice of the Stevenson Women’s Ice Hockey team and also became the lead broadcaster for their Women’s Lacrosse team, broadcasting every home game as well as their NCAA Tournament game in New York.
In the summer of 2014, I again had the privilege of working for the IronBirds. I led four interns in writing press releases, player features, game recaps, and game analysis stories, all of which were posted to the team website or put in the game day magazine. I also created and oversaw a new Twitter account for the team, @IronBirdsPR. This account shared specific and relevant stats, news, and quotes from the team to fans and media members following the account.
Currently, I am leading SFMSports.Net’s coverage of our ‘County Game of the Week,’ including reaching out to Athletic Directors and scheduling broadcasts, in addition to broadcasting the game. I am also set to return for my third season with the Stevenson Women’s Ice Hockey team and my second season with the Women’s Lacrosse team.
