Will Eastman is a Washington, D.C.-based DJ, music producer, and nightclub owner. His DJ performances have earned him the title “D.C.’s titan DJ” from the Washington Post. After two decades as a DJ, in which he helped transform the D.C. dance music scene, his latest album, BREATHE, was recognized with the 2019 Washington Area Music Association award for Best Electronic Artist.
Vocalist, guitarist and bassist for numerous indie bands since age 15, and a member of DJ crews since the late 90s, Eastman pushes boundaries, melding disco, house, and left-field dance sounds in his sets and productions. His career began in 2000 when he launched BLISS, a monthly resident night focused on emerging dance music. Along the way, Eastman shared the DJ booth with a slew of special guests, including Moby and members of LCD Soundsystem, as the party developed a fervent following among underground music fans. Held in a no-attitude/no velvet rope setting, his BLISS residency helped shape D.C.’s expanding dance music scene and became one of the city’s longest-running emerging dance music club nights, eventually becoming the music website and annual Disco Fest, Blisspop.
Eastman first found success as a music producer in 2009 with his disco/house debut single, “Feelin’”, which received endorsements from dance music legends Fatboy Slim, Donald Glaude, Play Paul, and many top DJs. A steady stream of original productions and remixes followed, earning Will features on BBC Radio 1, NPR and in Billboard Magazine. Fact Magazine describes his sound as “seductive and mysterious house that is perfect for a 4 a.m. vibe” while Complex adds “gracefully balancing genres like a bird on a wire”.
Will is also co-founder, owner, and operator of the world-renowned U Street Music Hall music venue where he is also the lead talent buyer. A music-focused venue that hosts DJs and live bands, U Hall has been named one of America’s top 10 dance clubs by Rolling Stone and “by any measure, the best dance club in the region” by the Washington Post. Equally revered by its clientele and the talent that performs there, its award-winning sound system, internationally recognized programming, laid-back environment, no dress code, and 1,200 square foot cushioned floor have helped make it a music lover’s paradise since opening in 2010.
