The band formed in 1979 when a group of friends decided just to get together and make some noise, even if they acknowledged that back then , they neither had the music chops or the instrumental know how to do so. But here they are today after disbanding and reinventing themselves several times. Their 1982 hit song “I Melt With You” has been recorded and covered innumerable times and even financed the band when it was used in Burger King and Hershey chocolate bars commercials. “I melt..” get it? Modern English performed at the World Café Live in Philadelphia and is featured tonight on WHYY TV’s On Canvas. Elisabeth Perez Luna reports.
