Lessons from a Radical Model Episode 3 Artist Stories by WGDR published on 2016-08-04T19:04:50Z Episode 3: For this third episode of Lessons from a Radical Model, I sat down with three artists from different parts of the country working in various mediums: Kelly Meg Brennan-Pacillo, Brenda Boyer, and Jo Dery. Kelly Meg Brennan-Pacillo is a Buffalo NY based performer, storyteller, vocalist, actress, teacher, and healer committed to diversely artistic performance. She earned her Master of Fine Arts in Vocal Pedagogy, Theatre Pedagogy and Holistic Artistry degree from Goddard College in July of 2016. I came to her temporary performance space on Goddard's Plainfield campus to discuss her life as an artist and THE POSSESSION: a true story, her immersive solo performance about a demon who haunted the life and mind of a little girl. She won a regional Emmy in October of 2015 for a poverty series called “Big Questions” in the category “Outstanding Achievement for Public Affairs/Current Affairs Programming – Series” and earned her Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts degree from Goddard College in July of 2016. We sat down to discuss her life and latest work Canvas South Bend (canvassouthbend.com), a large-scale temporary photography exhibit that used downtown facades to showcase local photographers. Jo Dery is a Brattleboro VT-based artist who experiments with visual storytelling. She makes animation, books & comics, works on paper, and multimedia installation projects. Jo earned her Master of Fine Arts in Interdisciplinary Arts degree in 2011 from Goddard College. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Film Studies at Keene State College in Southern New Hampshire. We met up to discuss her life as an artist and teacher.
