Monotone Lou Slug
BACK TO THE BASICS...
The group MLS consists of 2 emcees Monotone & Lou Slug have been dubbed a "Dynamic Duo" over the past 10 years. The two come from different backgrounds but fuse nicely together.
Slug was born and raised in London, England. Slug didn't grow up listening to hip hop, but once he moved to the States, he fell in love with the art form. Slug credits his man introduction to hip-hopwhen he heard Dr. Dre's "The Chronic" album but was motivated to emcee when he heard C.R.E.A.M. by the Wu-Tang Clan.
Mono grew up as a singer and member of his youth church choir.He soon found his passion for hip hop soon after grasping the the pen for poetry. Monotone is the nephew of the the legendary Jerry Weaver who was a prominent recording artist/producer in the 70's and early 80's and is credited as the Executive Producer for Aretha Franklin and Janet Jackson's first album.
Both have the same influences and great taste in Music Artist to channel. Some of the groups influences are the Wu-Tang Clan, ATCQ, Canibus, Talib Kweli, Pharaoh Monch, Slum Village, Little Brother, Rakim, Nas, EPMD, Gang Starr, Pete Rock and many others.
Mono and Slug have had the opportunity to showcase their talents along side recording artists such as Busta Rhymes, Solomon Childs of Wu Tang, De La Soul, Dialated Peoples, Dress (of Black Sheep), Planet Asia, Tristate, Chino XL, The Coup, Izreal, Spearhead, Soul Clap, Mathie Bush, Tribe of Levi, and many others. MLS also cut their teeth grinding on the college and club circuits.
This two man group is known for their usage of metaphors and style through streamlined east coast patterns
and west coast laid tracks. The 2nd MLS album is currently in production. Look for the group on various collaborations.
