A cleric enters Pakistani politics by WBEZ's Worldview published on 2013/01/16 20:53:27 +0000 Tahirul Qadri, an Islamic scholar turned politician, is staging an indefinite sit-in in central Islamabad. He arrived there on Monday with several thousand followers, calling for sweeping reforms and anti-corruption measures. In one speech to supporters he called for the ouster of the current government and for a caretaker government to take its place. Qadri had been based in Canada until just a couple of months ago. Mujahid Ghazi, president of the Asian Broadcasting Network and a writer for the Urdu Times tells us who Qadri is and explains why he’s jumped onto the political scene.
