Videotape (Cover + Superimposed "Bodysnatchers" Beat) by warrenlain published on 2017-08-01T22:28:11Z This track has one aim: to train your ears to hear the syncopation buried deeply within "Videotape," from Radiohead's 2007 album In Rainbows. It is centered around a simple but impossible idea, that the beat is not where you feel/think it is. The piano jumps out just ahead of the "true" beat. And it is twice as fast as you probably thought it was. See Vox's explanation of this phenomenon - For a deeper dive, see my video essay, "The Hidden Syncopation of Radiohead's 'Videotape'" - youtu.be/RvKhtFXPswk View the rhythm breakdown I made for Vox here - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1wvGTq7oT0XQrgUd8dnuuLxI_jyKmCKX0gZdZbPZHiQo/edit?usp=sharing *** Warren Lain - all instruments, vocals, programming, mixing Radiohead - writing, performing, and recording the amazing original that I've attempted to cover here. Comment by SparkyCrackerz reminds me of the bonnaroo version 2017-09-09T00:36:12Z Comment by warrenlain Right here!!!! This is where the syncopation totally turns this "slow" song on its head... You can almost hear why Thom said this track was based off a Surgeon (post-rave trance) vibe. 2017-08-04T00:07:23Z
