Singer, composer & electronic musician as well as flamenco dancer, Phil Von is the co-leader of the performance group Von Magnet (1985/2017) which he initiated in London (I.C.A / LIFT Festival / Almeida Theatre / National Review of Live Arts Glasgow).
Von Magnet invented their own “Electro-Flamenco” style which unfolded throughout the years both on record (12 albums released on various labels) and on stage (different live performances & tours around Europe in festivals, theatres, concert halls & museums).
Under his own name he composed & performed with major ballet & dance companies in Germany (Berlin, Kiel, Dessau, Stuttgart), wrote various soundtracks for visual arts, contemporary dance & theatre plays as well as directed performance pieces for young companies in France, Portugal, Morocco & Turkey.
He has been lead composer and performer for the last twelve years with physical & street theatre companies : Materia Prima (Insomnia, Batailles, Choir, Eternal), Do Theatre (Anatomy of Fantasy), Underclouds (Funambus, Petites Histoires sans Gravité, Versant), Entre Terre et Ciel (Alma, Neige de Feu, Physalis, Envol), U-Structure Nouvelle (Strip Tease Forain, Melankholia).
Contemporary music : He composed a piece for double string quartet + electronics for Art Zoyd & the Ensemble Musiques Nouvelles in Brussels and was commissioned by the G.R.M (Group of Musical Research) in Paris & Montpellier for the piece Groundscape which he co-wrote with Mimetic.
As a solo artist he produced 3 albums published on C.D.
He is currently co-directing in Lithuania the dance-theatre company Okarukas with his partner, the butoh dancer & choreographer Sakurako. He wrote music for the pieces Here-After, Dolls, Birds, Voyager, Corsonor, Banzaï 2.0.
In 2016 he launched with drummer Somekilos the electro-ethnic duet project Meta Meat.
In 2018 he worked in London with François Testory and Neil Bartlett for the theatre piece “Medea Written with Rage” which was toured in major venues in England.
