Drive Time Podcast 10-01-2019 by Voice Of Islam published on 2019-01-10T21:20:47Z Join Samar Ahmad & Hanif Khan on Thursday's show where we will be discussing: Perceptions- Is Islam portrayed negatively in the media? A lot of what we learn about the world comes through the media. People often use the news as a source to gain knowledge or form an opinion on an affair. However, this comes with consequences. The way in which something is portrayed has a direct impact on how the public feel about a particular topic. False stories and inaccuracies about Islam in the news has led to mistrust and prejudice. Since last year alone there has been a 26% increase in the amount of crimes aimed specifically at Muslims and a lot of stigma has been created around the religion. The aim of this show is to challenge these misconceptions and show the true teachings of Islam. The true teachings of a religion that promotes the teachings of peace and righteousness. As said by the Promised Messiah (as) Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, "a religion which does not inculcate universal compassion is no religion at all." Guests include: Atiq Ahmad Bhatti (TV & Radio Broadcaster, Writer, Spokesperson, Campaigner for Peace) Noha Mellor (Professor of Media at the University of Bedfordshire, Author of several volumes about Arab media and culture) Ishaq Pathan (Deputy Director at Islamic Networks Group (ING)) Brian Cathcart (Journalist, Author, Professor at Kingston university) Produced by: Munahil Nasir, Arub Anwar and Kafia Ahmad
