Duality has defined the career of Lady Noir aka Viva L’Amour. From her two personae, she has had the opportunity to explore both sides of her sound, the crossover creating an unexpected and interesting melange of musicality. Straddling genres from wave to kraut-rock, to post-punk and its derivatives, through to techno, electro, house and disco, Leigh instils a sense of passion with a hint of whimsical darkness into each of her sets.
A career of contrasts, Leigh has played the dive bar to the dance hall and the runway to the recovery. With residencies at THE CARLTON HOTEL (Melb) CHINESE LAUNDRY (Syd), REVOLVER UPSTAIRS (Mel) and appearances at iconic parties MINCE MEAT (Syd) and JOHN (Melb), she has played alongside some of the most prevalent names of the electronic music scene, including DJ ROLANDO (Underground Resistance/USA), CARI LECKEBUSCH (SWE), PEACHES (CAN), MISS KITTEN and THE HACKER (FR), TLR (NLD), CARL YOUNG (USA), THE ADVENT/CISCO FERRIERA (UK), SWAYZAK (UK), ANTHONY ROTHER (GER),Le Tigre’s JD SAMSON (NYC), ARE WEAPONS (NYC) and LOUIE AUSTIN (GER).
Her love of music is more than an affair: Leigh has a Bachelor of Music majoring in Composition; a foundation she uses in fashion shows, totaling over 40 productions to date. She has played events for luxury houses - GUCCI, VIVIENNE WESTWOOD, CHANEL, BALLY, TIFFANY & Co, EMPORIO ARMANI, AESOP and KHEILS, Australian fashion brands, including ANTIPODIUM, TV, GARY BEGINI, LIFE WITH BIRD and ROMANCE WAS BORN, and various celebrations for organisations such as GRAZIA, ILLAMASQUA, the Australian Film Industry/AFI Awards, NATIONAL GALLERY OF VICTORIA, VOGUE Magazine’s 50th Anniversary and PLAYBOY Magazine’s 50th Anniversary.
Whether Lady Noir or Viva L’Amour, there’s one thing you can always expect: the unexpected.
