Frouke ten Velden, VJ/Audio-Visual Artist living in Amsterdam. In the Amsterdam nightlife and club scene people know me as "F". You can wrap me in a blanket of deep electronic music, especially when its sexy and melancholic.. But in the end any music that is melodic, complex and interestingly layered grabs my attention: As I also engage with (non electronic) live music and am currently working with the (New Orleans/funk/soul/VooDootrance) band My Baby. Thereby I enjoy working alongside art events and festivals and have been working with various organizations, like the van Gogh museum, Eye Film institute, TodaysArt festival, Playgrounds Festival and the Polish Videozone festival. Using the club and dance scene as my core artistic ecosystem and playground, I'm eager to explore on my work in different contexts, like public space and art institutions, performance art, dance and theatre and have been art director of various projects.
In my work I prefer to work from a fixed space from where I compose my concept, based on the existing architectural design of the location. I'm particularly interested in the spatial qualities of light and projection and herein work to expand on my visual library in a sculptural manner. (Think immersive installations, stage design and projection mapping)
