Ampere by Victor Pons published on 2013-06-04T06:56:58Z Ampere is a program that acts as a survey of current works for vibraphone with live electronics and I challenge myself to do it solo. Solo in the sense that I am triggering the electronic cues, volume, and effects in the score through midi pedals and iPad controllers. This is opposed to the usual where the performer plays normally while person at computer does all the “dirty work” on the computer. The challenge (and excitement) is juggling both roles while making it seem as that I am not. This program also acts as a bridge for where I am now and where I plan to go with doctoral dissertation. The fist installment was held at the Goat Farm Arts Center in Atlanta, GA on May 25th 2013. I hope to use this program as a platform to commission new works for vibraphone and live electronics as well as to incorporate a new advanced contact microphone system I am currently developing.
