Vera Kooper – Pianist
The young Dutch pianist Vera Kooper started playing the piano at the age of six. At the age of fourteen she was admitted to the Young Talent Class of the “Royal Conservatoire The Hague” (The Netherlands), where she studied with Kamilla Bystrova and David Kuyken.
During her studies Vera Kooper participated in master classes with a.o. Dmitri Bashkirov, Vladimir Tropp, Paul Badura-Skoda, Emanuel Krasovsky and Boris Berman and received regular coaching from Stephen Kovacevich.
Despite her young age Vera Kooper has already enjoyed an extensive performing career. In the Netherlands she has given recitals in the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam), De Doelen (Rotterdam), Oosterpoort (Groningen), Muziekcentrum Vredenburg (Utrecht), the Anton Philpszaal (Den Haag) and many more venues in The Netherlands, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, France, Italy and Israel. Many performances were broadcasted live by the Dutch radio (Radio 4, Radio Nederland Wereldomroep). She has performed at the “Grachtenfestival Amsterdam”, the “Peter de Grote Festival” and the “International Holland Music Sessions” (Netherlands), as well as at the “Musica Mundi Chamber music Festival” (Belgium), ”Dartington Summer School” (Great-Britain), “Aurora Chamber music Festival” (Sweden) and the “Tel Hai International Piano Masterclasses” (Israel). At the invitation of the Embassy of the Netherlands she gave a series of concerts in Denmark and Greenland.
Since making her debut as a soloist at the age of 12, playing Beethoven’s first Piano Concerto, Vera Kooper has regularly performed with orchestra.
In 2008 she toured The Netherlands and Germany with the “National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands” and conductor Jurjen Hempel. Successively she played a series of concerts with “Sinfonia Rotterdam” and Conrad van Alphen, performing Mendelssohn’s Concerto for Violin, Piano and Orchestra, together with violinist Emmy Storms.
In 2004 Vera Kooper won 2nd prize at the “International Steinway Competition” in Amsterdam and was chosen to represent The Netherlands at the “International Steinway Festival” in Germany, performing in a gala-concert at the “Musikhalle” in Hamburg.
In 2007 she was awarded 2nd prize and extra prizes during the National Finals of the “Prinses Christina Concours” in The Netherlands. One year later she won the 2nd prize and Press prize in the same competition, this time as a duo with violinist Emmy Storms.
A passionate chamber music performer, Vera is a member of the “Ars Vivendi Ensemble”, a Salzburg-based piano trio with violinist Gerard Spronk and cellist Irene Enzlin. She also regularly performs with Hungarian violist Eniko Magyar and is included as an artist of the “Pythagoras Ensemble” in London.
Vera currently follows the soloist program at the “Universität Mozarteum” in Salzburg (Austria) with Professor George Kern and the “Corso Annuale di Alto Perfezionamento” at the “Accademia Santa Cecilia” in Bergamo (Italy), with Konstantin Bogino.
